10/20/25 JV Scarlet vs Danville Location: West Lafayette Time: 6:00pm Final Score: 36-20 (Danville) In the final game of the season for the Red Devil JV scarlet squad, they faced off against an aggressive Danville team who came ready to play. The Red Devils fell behind early, but made some adjustments on both sides of the ball, and with less than a minute remaining in the first quarter, quarterback Chase Ostrom linked up once again with Braylon Crisp for the Red Devils first score of the game. Ethan Landess added two more points with the conversion, and just like that the Red Devils took over the lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Cameron Kudelka made a huge tackle, and then followed that up with another big defensive stop on the next play, bringing the first quarter to an end. Linebacker Alan Salazar got in on the defensive action with numerous tackles, as well, and the defensive line limited the Warrior running attack. Nonetheless, Danville was able to score another touchdown with just under five minutes remaining in the half. Upon getting the ball back, Ostrom quickly marched the Red Devils down the field, connecting with both Landess and Crisp. Crisp capped off the drive with a 20 yard touchdown pass, evening the score 14-14. The Warriors battled back, but fierce pressure from the Red Devil defense led to an errant pass that was intercepted by Landess near the goal line. Landess turned on the jets and scampered 59 yards down the field before being tackled. Ostrom and the Red Devil offense neared the end zone, but were unable to score before the half. The Warriors got the ball back with only seconds remaining in the 2nd quarter, and attempted to catch the Red Devils off guard by running a sweep. Salazar wasn’t fooled, and stopped the Warrior runner deep in the backfield. The score remained tied at the half. The Red Devil defense came out strong in the third quarter, and prevented Danville from converting a crucial 4th down. Although the Red Devils took over on downs, they were unable to gain much momentum. Danville scored again before the quarter ended, and scored an additional touchdown in the beginning of the 4th quarter, making the score 28-14. But the Red Devils’ pride kicked in, and with just over 8 minutes remaining in the game, Ostrom and Landess connected on a big gain and moved into Warrior territory. Running back Connor Peters smashed through the Danville defense, and scored a touchdown with just over 7 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, Danville went on to score another touchdown and ate up much of the clock. The Red Devils fought valiantly until the end, and despite the 36-20 loss, this was an impressive season filled with tremendous growth. Much of the team was forced to play on both sides of the ball, and the hearts of each player were tested. What an inspiration to watch the effort and teamwork, and it will be exciting to see these players develop. Now, let’s all come together and prepare for the varsity’s Friday night game against Western. RDP!
