West Side closed out their season with a come from behind victory at Hamilton Heights. After falling behind 13-0, Oliver Crowell threw a great deep ball and Onyx Shamo ran under it for a long touchdown. Shamo contributed with another big catch in the first half that set up a Crowell to Korbyn Keen touchdown pass. A big tackle for loss from Hollis Morrow and an interception from Keen preserved the halftime lead at 14-13. The big guys up front played hard all night on both sides of the ball, led by Morrow and including Ryan Richie, Henry Conley, Paxton Mills, and Ellis Furry. The ground game was relatively quiet, but running back Caleb Landess was effective as a receiver out of the backfield with sure hands and shifty runs. Cooper Bowling and Matthew Casillas captained the defense all season from their linebacker positions. Bowling stopped a long Husky drive by intercepting the ball on his own goal line and running the length of the field for a 100 yard touchdown. Keen picked up another takeaway with a fumble recovery in the third. Early in the fourth quarter, the Red Devils were down 28-20. Crowell once again found his favorite target, Keen, streaking down the middle for a 61 yard touchdown reception. Needing a big play to tie the game up, Mason Ersland ran a great route and hung on to a contested catch with less than two minutes remaining for the two point conversion. Then it was up to the defense to get the ball back to give their team one more chance and that's exactly what they did. Cornerback Wyatt Asay had a key pass breakup, one of many that he had on the night. Looking for a winning drive with less than a minute remaining, Crowell collected a couple first downs through the air before finding Keen yet again for a 21 yard touchdown with 16 seconds remaining. The defense defended the multiple lateral play to end the game with a 35-28 victory. 2nd - Crowell to Shamo 42 yard touchdown pass. Keen extra point good. 7-13 2nd - Crowell to Keen 6 yard touchdown pass. Keen extra point good. 14-13 3rd - Bowling 100 yard interception return for touchdown.
