10/13/25 JV Scarlet vs Culver Military Academy Location: West Lafayette Time: 6:00pm Final Score: 50-8 (West Lafayette) The Red Devils came hungry to play and jumped out to an early lead that they continued to build on throughout the game. The strong play by the Red Devil offensive line created a comfortable pocket for quarterback, Chase Ostrom, who picked apart the Eagles defense. And on defense, Alan Salazar and Ira Dobson set the tone, significantly limiting the visiting Eagles’ offensive efforts. With less than two minutes having elapsed in the opening quarter, Ostrom connected with Braylon Crisp for a 21 yard touchdown pass. Ostrom then converted the two point conversion, and the Red Devils were up 8-0. But, the Red Devil offense didn’t take much of a break because the defense came out strong. Cornerback Duke Elias shed a block and made a huge tackle for a loss on the Eagles running back. The subsequent play, Ostrom picked off a pass up the middle, and the Red Devils then marched down the field. Unfortunately, the drive ended with an interception, but the Red Devil defense stopped the Eagles once again, forcing a punt. With less than three minutes to go in the opening quarter, Ostrom connected with Ethan Landess for a 73 yard touchdown, and one of their many connections during the game. Leading 14-0 after the first quarter, Ostrom connected with a wide open Alan Salazar for a 42 yard gain. Running back Connor Peters took it from there, scoring his first of several touchdowns from inside the red zone. On the ensuing kickoff, the Red Devils recovered the ball, once again putting the offense in great field position. On third down and short, Ostrom again connected with Crisp for a 30 yard touchdown, taking the score to 26-0. The Red Devils again recovered the kickoff, but were unable to score. As the Eagles took over and gained some momentum, Salazar made a huge touchdown saving tackle with just over two minutes left in the first half. The Red Devils continued to play inspiring defense, preventing the Eagles from scoring before the end of the half. After a short kickoff to start the second half, the Eagles began their offensive push from around midfield. Ira Dobson, Zach Cuttell, Elijah Martin, Jayson Haverstick, Connor Owens, and the rest of the defense stepped up big and made multiple tackles for loss. On third and long, the Red Devil defense overcame the Eagles and once again sacked the quarterback. On the subsequent play, Lucas Davis interrupted the Eagles’ hope with a key tackle, and the Red Devils took over on downs. The Red Devil offense went right back to work, and the line provided the opportunity for big plays. With just less than five minutes remaining in the third quarter, Ostrom connected yet again with Crisp for an 86 yard touchdown, and Landess successfully converted the two point conversion. Once again, the Red Devils’ special teams came up big, and again recovered the kickoff. The Red Devils continued to push the ball on offense, and protect their territory on defense. Tripp Seyfert and Cameron Kudelka made multiple critical stops in the middle of the defense, and the Red Devil defensive line and secondary all worked in unison, making for a favorable outcome. Cos Russell stepped in and played a variety of roles during the game, on both the defensive and offensive sides of the ball. Luke Tolen made multiple catches from Ostrom, helping to move the ball down the field and put points on the board. Center, Jayson Haverstick, and the rest of the offensive line were instrumental in the success of the offense, which was evident throughout the game. This was a full team effort, and the Red Devils had great success because of this. They proudly walked off the field after the fourth quarter buzzer with the scoreboard showing 50-8. The Red Devils will return next week for its last contest of the season, and you better be ready for some excitement!
