West Lafayette Falls to Twin Lakes, 21-7

Friday, October 10, the West Lafayette Red Devils hosted the Twin Lakes Indians in a hard-fought low scoring contest, ultimately falling 21-7. With several regular players sidelined by injuries, the game provided a chance for new faces to step up and gain valuable playing time. Despite the loss, the Red Devils defense put up a strong fight, keeping the game competitive throughout. West Side's offense showed their tenacity, but the breaks didn’t fall their way. The first half showcased standout defense from both teams, despite each team’s strong offensive reputations. Twin Lakes started with the ball on the opening kick and took a 7- 0 lead with 7:37 left in the first quarter, maintaining that score through the quarter. West Lafayette’s defense secured another first and goal stop in the second quarter, one of several on the season, and the half ended with the Indians leading 7-0. The second half opened with the Devils starting at the 26-yard line after the kick return. A balanced drive mixing both runs and passes, led to Blake Biddle scoring a 5-yard touchdown run tying the game at 7-7 with 8:19 remaining in the third quarter. The Indians were able to add on another touchdown taking the lead 14-7 ending the third. In the fourth quarter, the Red Devils displayed resilience. The offense converted three 4 th down plays in a single drive, while the defense kept the game close. In the end, the Indians secured the victory. Key Performers The defense was led by JJ Weida with 14 total tackles, Martin Gozo added 10, and Kade Kitchell added 2 tackles for a loss. The offense was led on the ground by Chase Zhou with 49 yards, Biddle running for 42 and a touchdown. Biddle threw for 183 yards, with Fielder Melchi adding 10 receptions for 82 yards.
