JV Scarlet Game Recap 9/29/25 (Cascade)

By Robin Beckham | Sep 30, 2025 12:00 AM

The elevated late September temperature didn’t hinder the Red Devils, who jumped out to an early lead and continued to build on that throughout the game. Cascade was unable to generate any advantage against the relentless Red Devil defense, and the West Lafayette squad walked off the field proudly at the end of the game with a score of 54-0. The Red Devil offense missed the presence of quarterback Max Smosna who suffered an injury last week, however, Chase Ostrom filled in and successfully guided many Red Devil offensive attacks with both his arm and his feet. The offensive line, led by Jayson Haverstick and Zach Cuttell, protected the backfield and created an abundance of opportunities. Luke Tolen contributed to the Red Devil ball movement by catching multiple passes, and Chase Zhou carried much of the running attack. Lucas Davis stepped in to the running back position in the 2nd half and capped off the game with a touchdown run up the middle. Defensively, the Red Devils punished Cascade continuously, and Blaine Myles and Max Barash provided unpleasant pressure to the Cascade backfield. Connor Owens and Ira Dobson were tenacious on the defensive line, and on special teams Dobson was quick to halt any Cascade momentum. Linebacker, Alan Salazar, assertively shut down any Cascade movement, and he also got in on the offense as well, scoring a touchdown. Tripp Seyfert made multiple big plays, and the Red Devils really came together to play some exciting football. The cohesive effort on both sides of the ball contributed significantly to the victorious outcome. It'll be exciting to see this JV squad continue to improve and build on their success.
