Red Devils Dominate Rensselaer in Convincing Home Victory

On Friday, September 12, the West Lafayette Red Devils secured a decisive 35-7 win over the Rensselaer Central Bombers, rebounding from a challenging early-season schedule. The Red Devils showcased dominance on both sides of the ball, with Rensselaer’s lone score coming from a special teams touchdown. The scoring began early in the first quarter when Keaton Bartlett hauled in a 39-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Blake Biddle. With the extra point, West Lafayette took a 7-0 lead with 10:48 remaining in the first. The Red Devils’ defense continued to flex its muscle, setting the stage for another explosive play, a 70-yard touchdown pass to Colin Kastens, further extending the lead. The second half saw more of the same dominance. The defense forced turnovers, including fumbles forced by JJ Weida and Martin Gozo, stifling Rensselaer’s offense. On the offensive side, Biddle connected with Pfeiffer and Amedo for additional touchdown passes, while also adding another rushing touchdown to close out the scoring for the night. Key Performers The defense was led by Martin Gozo with 17 tackles, Cade Kitchell with 14 tackles, and Dylan Salazar with 13 tackles. Andrew Richards also excelled, recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass, anchoring a stellar team effort. Quarterback Blake Biddle delivered an outstanding performance, throwing for 300 yards and four touchdowns to receivers Colin Kastens, Keaton Bartlett, Amedo, and Pfeiffer, while also scoring a rushing touchdown. Kojo Steffey led all rushers, powering the Red Devils’ ground game with a strong performance.
