7th Grade Runners Shine at Rensselaer Invite

The 7th grade boys finished in 1st place of 15 teams with a score of 88 points at the Rensselaer Invite on Saturday. Joshua Ciocoi led the way with a 2nd place individual finish and a time of 10:59.9. Ian Gilbert, Jacob So, Cain Martens, David Zhou, Auggie Chiang, and JJ Tanoos rounded out the varsity squad and each finished with a season's best. The 7th grade girls team also won with a team score of 26 points. Maddlie Clampitt-Morales won this race with a time of 12:03.2 and claiming the 37th spot on the school top 50 list. Emmy Gustus came in third place and made her debut on the top 50 list coming in at a tie of 50th place. Rounding out the varsity, included fast times from Vera Lundgren, Ava Thompson, Ady Waggoner-McClain, Aisha Jain and Ivie Johnson. Max Rodriguez continued his winning streak, claiming his third individual victory of the season with a time of 10:25.3. With this time, he moved into a tie for 11th place on the school record list. Max led the 8th grade boys to a 2nd place finish out of 17 teams. Isaac Antalis ran a 24 second PR with a time of 12:45.5 and Simon Hoffmann ran a 48 second PR with a time of 14:39.5. Jillian Hanna earned a top 20 medal in the girls race as the 8th grade girls finished 4th of 6 teams. She set a PR with time of 13:07.7 coming in 17th place. Ali Kalb ran her best race of the season with a time of 13:36.9 and Ilkay Irfanoglu set a new personal best with a time of 13:59.9 - her first sub 14 minute race!
