West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School

The 7th grade West Lafayette volleyball team had their first game on the road vs Twin Lakes. The A team had a strong showing. Shaeah Vogt set the tone, serving 18 in a row, 13 of those being aces. Defensively the Red Devils, led by Arabella Combs, shined in the back row. The offense, ran by setters Evelyn Stahelin and Enqi Gan, coupled with dominance at the net by Vogt, Kerrigan Kitchel, Ainsley VanHorn and Bethany Kaverman were too much for Twin Lakes. A team won 25-7, 25-18. Despite the 25-22 loss in the first set, the B team fought back in the second set and wouldn’t give up. Great hustle plays by Jamilla Manning and Lauren Flesher led to a 25-18 victory, forcing a third set. Even with strong serving from Manning and Faith Quintana, the Red Devils couldn’t pull out the win and fell in set three 15-9. The Red Devils play Sept 3rd at home vs Tecumseh, start time 5:45pm.
