West Lafayette Softball starts the season 2-0 with wins over Seeger and McCutcheon. Freshman pitcher Izzy Ascarelli has earned the complete game win in both showings, racking up 13 strikeouts and allowing just 5 hits over the two games. In Tuesday's 2-1 showdown with Seeger, it was Ascarelli's 2 hits that propelled WL to victory along with dominating baserunning by Ellie Wilcoxson, Allison Creech, and Dani Rawles. Thursday night's home opener against Twin Lakes saw the bats come alive as six different WL athletes recorded at least one hit. Junior shortstop Adrianne Tolen had 2 hits and 4 RBIs including a towering homerun over the centerfield fence. Rawles chipped in 2 hits including an RBI triple and Emma Orr also tallied 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Bree Johnson chipped in 2 RBIs and a stolen base in the offensive effort. West Lafayette returns to action on Saturday morning at 10:30 for a conference double header with Rensselaer.
