By Jonathan Polk | Mar 25, 2025 10:50 AM

8th grade cross country and track star Alex Eriksson became an Orienteering National Champion over Spring Break! After a fantastic performance on the second of two days, Alex won the National High School Championship (officially called Junior Nationals) in orienteering held in Texas - as an 8th grader! The competition was the stiffest possible in this country with the entire junior national team participating. Here are the official results: http://ntoareg.com/2025jrnationals/ameetresults/index.html (”ISVM” - Interscholastic Varsity Male - is the championship class for High Schools) After a strong performance at the team trials in California a couple of weeks ago, Alex was also recently selected as one of six male athletes under 20 to represent the US at the upcoming Junior World Orienteering Champs in Italy this summer, as one of the youngest ever members of that team. Congratulations and good luck to Alex this summer!
