West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School

It was an incredible day for the West Lafayette Red Devils at the 2025 Hoosier Conference meet on Saturday. The girls team earned their second consecutive conference title with a 62 point lead over second place, Hamilton Heights. The boys team took second place, moving up in the standings compared to last year. The Red Devils were led on both sides by the senior class, whose experience shone during Saturday’s competition. Three seniors earned the title of Conference Champion: Senior Isabel Owens in the 100 Backstroke, Senior Captain Chloe Chen in the Girls 100 Breaststroke, and Senior Captain Lucas Arnaldo in the Boys 200 IM and Boys 100 Breaststroke. Arnaldo’s commanding swim in the 200 IM set a new Hoosier Conference record with a time of 1:53.87, previously set by West Lafayette athlete Brandon Colonis in 2014. The Girls team also topped the podium in two of three relay events, earning the conference title in the 200 Medley Relay (C. Chen, Mei Kihara (JR), Madeline Umulis (SR Captain), Monica Chen (FR) and 200 Freestyle Relay (Umulis, Owens, Estelle Seymour (FR), C. Chen). Girls Top 8 Finishes 200 Medley Relay – 1st: C.
