Junior Adrianne Tolen scored the 1,000th point of her career to lead West Lafayette girls basketball to a 45-31 win at Rensselaer on Jan. 12. Tolen finished with 16 points, six rebounds, two assists and seven steals. Fittingly, her milestone bucket came on a steal and layup. Kennedy Martin scored 12 points, while Sarah Werth and Vivian Huston had nine and seven, respectively. Werth also pulled down eight rebounds, as did Annie Karlaftis, while Huston came up with seven steals. The Red Devils had 22 thefts as a team – forcing 33 Rensselaer turnovers – won the rebounding battle 38-33 and limited the Bombers to 25% shooting from the field. Rensselaer won the JV game 20-14. Ellie Wilcoxson led the Devils with five points and 10 rebounds. West Lafayette is back in action at Lafayette Jeff on Tuesday, Jan.17.
