West Lafayette takes two games from Rensselaer at home

The Red Devils came out of the gate hot with 17 points in each of the first two quarters carrying a 34-20 lead into the half. Max Smosna and Chase Ostrom both scored seven points in the first half. The visiting Bombers made some free throws in the second half, but could never close the gap. West Lafayette won by a final of 48-38. Michael Gulich protected the rim five blocks and added six points and seven rebounds. Mason Wright had ten points and three steals while Ostrom finished with nine points. Chase Zhou was aggressive on both ends with seven points, four rebounds and two steals. The Red Devils now stand at 5-8 on the season. The B team took control early and never looked back behind ten points from Ehan Qazi and 13 from the leading scorer Matthew Casillas. The final count was 48-26 in favor of the home team. All eight players scored a point or more and had at least two rebounds. Defensively, Oliver Crowell was a menace finishing with ten steals and Ira Dobson Jr. flew around the court adding eight steals. Mert Yavuz led the Red Devils on the boards with six rebounds. The B team boasts an 8-2 record on the year.
