Junior High Cross Country Competes at Mav Stampede

The Junior High cross country team began the season at the Mav Stampede on Saturday. Despite missing their #2 runner, the boys team finished in second place, coming up just one point short of winning. The team was led by Jinsoo Choi who finished in 3rd place with a time of 11:04.76. Max Rodriguez had a strong debut coming in 6th place with a time of 11:33.44. JiHo Jeon took over 1 minute and 30 seconds off his best 7th grade time as he ran under 12 minutes for the first time. Joseph Purpura, Leon Zeng, and Wesley Goodwine all improved upon their time trial time by 2 minutes or more. The girls team finished in 5th place out of 11 teams with a team score of 100 points. Erica Rogers led the way with a second place finish and a new PR with a time of 12:24.34. Lucia Neal set a new personal best with a time of 14:10.51 and came in 22nd place. Ali Kalb took over a minute off her time trial time and Beth McVey ran over 2 minutes faster than her practice race time.
