Junior High Cross Country Sweeps WCJC

The Junior High boys and girls cross country teams won at WCJC on Saturday at Benton Central. The boys scored 20 points, placing their five scoring runners in the top eight. Joe Doty won the conference individual title with a PR of 10:39. This also places him in 21st place on the school record list. Ehan Qazi, Archer Fry, Ryan Kelley, Will Springer, Aiden Graves, and Dani Caviglia (18 second PR) rounded out the top seven. Gaspar Hernandez ran a time of 12:10, which was 1:12 faster than his previous best. Yoonwoo Lee ran a 27 second PR and Christian Steffey improved his best time by 20 seconds.
The girls won with a score of 23 points, also placing their top five runners in the top eight. Annah Stenberg, Aubrey Kalb (37 second PR), Natalie Cuttell, Macy Fordyce, Molly Mansfield (12 second PR), Megan Creech, and Darya Areshkina (18 second PR) were the top seven runners for WL. Kaia Ursem ran a personal best by 29 seconds, Wallis Rochet by 16 seconds, Hannah Reed by 26 seconds, and Jiuru Liu by 33 seconds.
The Red Devils compete at Fountain Central on Tuesday.
