The Junior High cross country team ran strong Tuesday evening at the City/County meet held at the amphitheater. The boys won first (of 10 teams) with a score of 44 points, even though they were short two of their top three runners. Ryan Kelley (4 second PR), Will Springer (15 second PR), Aidan Graves, and Caleb Yu (8 second PR) embraced the "next man up" mentality and had big races to help seal the victory. Eric Yu and Preston Lomax each took over a minute off their personal best and Arjun Vanamala bested his previous time by 43 seconds. The girls ran well with a second place finish of 11 teams. Katie Antalis (2 seconds), Kaia Ursem (8seconds), and Wallis Rochet (1 second) ran personal bests on a difficult course and a hot day. Molly Mansfield ran 31 seconds faster than she did on the same course two weeks ago and Natalie Cuttell ran 21 seconds faster than her previous race at the amphitheater. The teams run again at Benton Central on Saturday as they compete for the WCJC conference title!
