Red Devil Baseball Opens Season at Frankfort

The Red Devils started the season off hot at the plate with Jack Shaeffer's double down the right field line scoring Ben Werth. Lincoln Furry followed with a double to right center, plating Colin Kastens and Shaeffer. Aiden Heap rounded out the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single. Shaeffer started on the mound working two plus innings, giving up only one hit and striking out 3. A tough third inning saw West Lafayette fall behind 8-6. Maddox Bramer and Carson Kitchel saw action in relief of Shaeffer. The Hot Dogs took game one by a 13-7 final. Furry 2-4, 2R, 3RBI, SB Shaeffer 2-4, 2R, 2RBI Doty 2-4, RBI Kastens 2-4, R, SB Werth 1-3, 2R In game two, Chase Taylor's pitching kept the Frankfort bats off balance exiting in the fifth inning with the Red Devils leading 6-4. Kastens went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Doty contributed with 2 singles and 3 RBIs. Frankfort took the lead in the sixth inning and with their backs against the wall and two outs in the seventh, Furry singled to right scoring Werth to tie the game. Werth's relief pitching kept the score tied at 7 through the 7th and 8th inning. Frankfort finally plated the winning run in the 9th inning for a final score of 8-7.
