The Red Devil swimmers trekked across town to Lafayette Jefferson for the first day of the 2024 IHSAA Boys Swimming State Tournament Series -- Sectional Prelims! The Red Devils were entered in 3 relays and had 24 individual event swims, with 100% of athletes earning at least one Saturday Swim by placing in the Top 16, earning a place in the Sectional Finals session on Saturday. In the individual races, Red Devil athletes posted season-best times in 22 out of 24 swims! The Red Devil Relays will all be seeded in the championship final heat (top 8), with the 200 Medley Relay placing 2nd, the 200 Freestyle Relay placing 8th and the 400 Freestyle Relay placing 5th in the preliminary heats. Athletes competing in Saturday's finals include: 200 Freestyle -- Championship Final: Ben Mariner (SR Captain); Consolation Final: Mukund Rao (FR), Jacob Clampitt-Morales (SR) 200 Individual Medley -- Championship Final: Lucas Arnaldo (JR), Ethan Zhang (SO) 50 Freestyle -- Championship Final: Zheng-Chi Lee (SR) 100 Butterfly -- Championship Final: Mariner, Zhang; Consolation Final: Chase Jordan (FR) 100 Freestyle -- Championship Final: Lee; Consolation Final: Lincoln Miller (JR), Clampitt-Morales 500 Freestyle -- Consolation Final: Jonathan Yang (FR), Rao, Ryan Miloudi (JR) 100 Backstroke -- Championship Final: Jordan, Miller; Consolation Final: Jacob Cohen (SO) 100 Breaststroke -- Championship Final: Arnaldo, Miloudi; Consolation Final: Brett Kang (SR) Senior Captain Brendan Twomey will represent the Red Devil Divers at the Sectional Championship in the diving preliminary rounds on Saturday morning. Special thanks to our event alternates, without whom our sectional roster would not be complete.
