The West Lafayette Girls Swimming & Diving team flexed some serious depth and fought for every point on the scoreboard to secure the title of 2024 Hoosier Conference Champion! The Red Devils held steady at 2nd place, behind Rensselaer Central, for the majority of the meet. Going into the 400 Freestyle Relay, the last event of the competition, the Red Devils were two points out of first. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Chloe Chen (JR), Madeline Umulis (JR), Isabel Owens (JR) and Laurie Antalis (SR Captain) swam to a second place finish behind Hamilton Heights, securing the points needed to nab the top spot on the scoreboard by one point. West Lafayette was led in scoring by Junior Chloe Chen (49.5) and Senior Captain Laurie Antalis (48.5). Antalis and Chen were both members of the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay, which placed 3rd and 2nd respectively. Additionally, Chen took 2nd in the 100 Freestyle and 3rd in the 100 Backstroke, while Antalis locked up 3rd place in both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly. Depth on the roster was key to securing this conference win, with five additional teammates also scoring 30 points or more, including Madeline Umulis (JR), Isabel Owens (JR), Mei Kihara (SO), Lina Idrissi Alami (SR Captain) and Natalie Cuttell (FR).
