Red Devils Celebrate Senior Night with Victory over Bronchos

Girls Score: Red Devils 122, Broncos 64 The West Lafayette Red Devils Girls Swimming & Diving team hosted the last home dual meet of the 2023-24 season with a win against Lafayette Jeff on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Leading the Red Devil squad were Senior Captain Laurie Antalis (SR) and Madeline Umulis (JR) with two event wins apiece. Antalis took the top spot in the 200 IM with a lifetime best of 2:20.45 and the 100 Butterfly, while Umulis led the pack in the 100 Free and the 100 Backstroke. Senior Captain Lina Idriss Alami (SR) and Isabel Owens (JR) round out the top scorers for the evening with 14 points apiece, each winning one individual event and swimming on two first place relays. Idrissi Alami in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay and the 100 Breaststroke, and Owens in the 200 Medley relay, 50 Freestyle, and 400 Freestyle Relay. In total, the Red Devils took the top spot in 10 out of 12 events of the evening including: - 200 Medley Relay: Isabel Owens, Mei Kihara, Lina Idrissi Alami - 200 IM: Laurie Antalis - 50 Free: Isabel Owens - Diving: Kynlee Dunbar - 100 Butterfly: Laurie Antalis - 100 Free: Madeline Umulis - 200 Free Relay: Laurie Antalis, Natalie Cuttel, Tara Kim, Juanita Rodriguez-Bravo - 100 Backstroke: Madeline Umulis - 100 Breaststroke: Lina Idrissi Alami - 400 Free Relay: Madeline Umulis, Isabel Owens, Lina Idrissi Alami, Laurie Antalis The Red Devils had many strong performances throughout the evening, including 1-2-3 finishes in the 200 IM (Antalis, Kihara, Cuttell), and 100 Butterfly (Antalis, Kihara, Alexandra Ying). WLHS also took 1-2 in the 200 Medley Relay( 2nd: Rodriguez-Bravo, Kersten Steffey, Cuttell, Bella Dodt), Diving (Dunbar, Ace Tyrrell), and the 100 Breaststroke (Idrissi Alami, Madigan Boesch). This Thursday and Saturday the Red Devils open the start of championship season with Hoosier Conference Championships for divers on Thursday, January 11 and swimmers on Saturday, January 13. Hoosier Conference Championships will be held at our home pool, the Richard Wachs Aquatic Center.
