West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School

The Red Devils were on the road again for the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Zionsville Community High School. Eight teams were in attendance, including West Lafayette, Zionsville, McCutcheon, Muncie Central, Terre Haute South, Lebanon, University High School and International High School. Overall, both the boys and girls teams had strong performances throughout the weekend with both teams earning the 2nd place spot in the final standings. The Red Devils were led in points scored by junior Lucas Arnaldo with two event wins (200 IM and 100 Breaststroke) scoring 38.5; junior Chloe Chen scoring 34 points, including a 1st place finish in the 100 Breaststroke; and senior captain Laurie Antalis scoring a total of 31 points. The Red Devil divers opened the competition on Friday evening with a strong start in the 11-dive 1m springboard event. West Lafayette had two divers competing, both finishing in strong scoring positions. On the boys side, Senior Caption Brendan Twomey took first place honors winning the 11-dive event with a PR of 389.60, a 15.55 lead over the 2nd place finisher. For the girls, sophomore Kynlee Dunbar finished fourth with a PR 312.80. Other strong scorers for the Red Devils, scoring 25 points or more, included Senior Captains Lina Idrissi Alami and Ben Mariner; juniors Isabel Owens and Madeline Umulis; sophomores Mei Kihara and Ethan Zhang; and freshmen Natalie Cuttell and Chase Jordan. On Saturday, the swimmers boasted strong showings across the board with 30 athletes scoring points in individual events for the Red Devils, and a total 21 new individual event lifetime bests, including two impressive swims in the mid distance and distance events by junior Ryan Miloudi, combining for a total of 29.87 seconds dropped. Chloe Chen and sophomore Mei Kihara teamed up for an exciting 1-2 finish in the Girls 100 Breaststroke. During the meet, we will celebrate Senior Night, as it will be our last coed dual meet of the season.
