Red Devils Top the Scoreboard at Splashing through the Snow Invitational

Red Devils Swimming at Diving were the top team in the women's scores at the 2023 Splashing Through the Snow Invitational, hosted by Terre Haute South High School. Held at the Vigo County Aquatic Center, West Lafayette competed against 8 other schools and topped the scoreboard at 455 points, with Mount Vernon High School coming in 2nd at 405. The Red Devils were led in points cored by Senior Captain Laurie Antalis and Junior Chloe Chen with 50 points apiece, each swimming on three winning relays as well as securing an individual event win. The Red Devils also boasted three other athletes scoring at least 40 points, including Sophomore Mei Kihara, Junior Madeline Umulis and Senior Captain Lina Idrissi Alami. The Red Devils took first place in all three relay events as well as two individual events. 200 Medley Relay A -- Chen, Kihara, Antalis, Umulis 100 Butterfly -- Antalis 500 Freestyle -- Chen, with a lifetime best swim 200 Freestyle Relay -- Chen, Isabel Owens (JR), Umulis, Antalis 400 Freestyle Relay -- Chen, Umulis, Owens, Antalis West Lafayette had strong showings across the board, with a total of 16 best times and top 3 finishes in three additional events by Idrissi Alami (200 Freestyle), Kihara (200 IM & 100 Breaststroke). The Red Devils are on the road again on Saturday, December 16th for a second invitational, the Eagle Invite, hosted by Zionsville High School. Zionsville high school is the location for this year's Girls Sectional meet, so we expect to meet strong competition!
