­­­­­9/19/26 West Lafayette (JV) Vs. Logansport Berries Location: Logansport Time: 11:00am Final Score: 34-28 (West Lafayette) The Red Devils traveled to Logansport for an exciting battle in the midst of a heavy rain storm. Although the Devils experienced a last minute detour and slight delay in their arrival, they were absolutely prepared to play! Linebacker Alan Salazar started off the excitement with an impressive sack on the Logansport quarterback, causing him to fumble the football. Jackson Winger recovered the fumble and two plays later Chase Ostrom ran into the end zone for the first score of the day. Salazar and Mason Ersland continued making tackle after tackle, and Zach Cuttell, Greyson McClelland, and the rest of the defensive line ignited the Red Devil defensive spirit. DJ Moore caught a Logansport ball carrier from behind, and it was this type of effort that led to such an enjoyable football experience. Moore would go on to make multiple defensive and offensive contributions throughout the day. As the first half came to an end, the Red Devil defense put up an impressive final stand, keeping the Berries out of the end zone as the seconds ticked off the clock. Both teams took a break at halftime with the score being tied, 20-20. The two teams traded off points in the second half, but with the hard running attack of Jack Grove and Chase Zhou, and the relentless effort by the Red Devil offensive line led by Cuttell, Logansport was unable to keep up. As the third quarter came to an end and the storm intensified, the game was called. The Red Devils had taken a 34-28 lead following an Ostrom kickoff return for a touchdown, which was made possible by some elite downfield blocking by multiple Red Devils. The West Lafayette JV squad continues to play great team football. They’ll rest up this weekend and then begin their preparation for next Monday’s contest against Twin Lakes. Keep up the great work!
