8/29/26 West Lafayette (JV) Vs. McCutcheon Location: West Lafayette Time: 10:00am Final Score: 44-6 (West Lafayette) West Lafayette’s junior varsity team came ready to play! Although it was a short week with the game being on Saturday, the Red Devils were eager to put up points and shut down the Maverick offense. At the opening kickoff, Keegan Slifer’s onside kick was recovered by Chase Ostrom. Ostrom, who managed the Red Devil offense from his quarterback role, scored on a 15 yard run several plays later. Ostrom would score soon again, after the Red Devil defense stopped the Maverick offense, forcing them to punt. Ostrom fielded the punt, and sprinted down the field for the 2nd touchdown of the game. The Maverick offense could not generate momentum, due to multiple big plays from Red Devil defensive linemen, Zach Cuttell, Connor Owens, and Blaine Myles. Myles, in addition to several tackles for loss and a recovered fumble, also blocked and recovered a Maverick punt. Mason Ersland sacked the Maverick quarterback on 4th down, giving the Red Devils another opportunity to score. At the end of the first half, the Red Devils were up 22-0, after another Ostrom touchdown. The Red Devil defense continued its pressure in the 2nd half, with noteworthy plays by Ellis Furry, Myles, and Owens. Slifer picked up a fumbled ball after Owens dislodged it, and raced 35 yards into the endzone. McCutcheon was able to score once, however, their two point conversion attempt was disrupted by Cody Peters. Following the Maverick score, the Red Devils responded immediately, with a touchdown pass from Slifer to Ersland, ending the game with a score of 44-6. This was a great victory for West Lafayette, and a promising way to start the upcoming week!
