For the fifth straight year, your West Lafayette Red Devils are sectional champs. It was 5 goals for the 5 peat, with West Lafayette starting the scoring early. In the second minute Anna Lasater found Lauren Kovich with a cross that was finished to put the Devils on the board. About a minute late the Red Devils would strike again. Malavika Sujith sliced her way up the left sideline and took a shot on goal, the rebound bounced back to Lauren Pedley for another on target shot, third time was a charm, with Sarah Werth putting it away. Stella Teel was next on the board, scoring her first varsity goal on a shot from way outside that caught the KV keeper off her line. The second half started slow, with many WL opportunités but nothing to show on the scoreboard. With 20 minutes to play, it was Malavika Sujith getting her name on the scoresheet. Sujith again worked her way up the left side of the field, passed the ball to Vivian Huston at the top of the box, and received a great 1-2 back from Huston that she would finish for the goal. Rounding out the scoring was Lauren Kovich who capitalized on a beautiful through ball from Sarah Werth. The Red Devils raised the sectional trophy for the fifth straight season with the class of 2024 seniors having a perfect sectional record. West Lafayette will return to action Thursday night for a regional semifinal match up at Hanover Central.
