West Lafayette Jr-Sr High School

The 7th & 8th grade football teams travelled to Rensselaer on Thursday night with each team coming away with impressive wins. The 7th grade started off the night winning 34-6 with contributions from several players. Leading the way with touchdowns were Gio Pacheco, Andrew Pfeiffer, Dru Budzynski and Onyx Shamo. The defense played well shutting down the Rensselaer ground attack forcing turnovers by Gio Pacheco, Levi Martin, and Onyx Shamo. The 7th grade moves to 3-0 on the season. Following the 7th grade win, the 8th grade came to the field also coming away win with a score of 26-8. The Red Devils were led by Mason Wright, Chase Zhou, and Alan Salazar with Jaece Vogt adding a 2 point conversion. The Red Devils were led by good quarterback play from both Max Smosna and Oliver Crowell. With a big stand and forced fumble by Martin Vega at the goal line, the Red Devils continued to push the lead and pull away start the 2nd half. The 8th grade improved their record on the season to 2-1. The 7th & 8th grade teams will continue their season on Tuesday September 12th at Lafayette Central Catholic.
