Girls Swim & Dive Win Three-Peat as Hoosier Conference Champions

It’s a three-peat! The West Lafayette Girls Swim & Dive team secured their third Hoosier Conference Championship in a row today, with outstanding performances team-wide. The Red Devils topped the leaderboard with 423 points, 88 points ahead of second place Hamilton Heights. Western, Rensselaer Central and Benton Central rounded out the top five. Total Scores: West Lafayette 423, Hamilton Heights 335, Western 321, Rensselaer Central 256, Benton Central 244, Logansport 193, Tipton 164, Twin Lakes 132, Central Catholic 32 West Lafayette was led in scoring by freshman Maddie Klinge with 57 points, freshman Jayda Huang with 54 points, senior captain Mei Kihara (53 points) and junior Estelle Seymour (52 points). The quad of girls were dual-event champions in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay. Individually, Klinge placed 2nd in the 50 Freestyle and raced to Conference Champion in the 100 Backstroke. Huang earned the runner-up spot in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Butterfly, while Seymour took third place in both the 200 and 500 Freestyles while Kihara took third in the 100 Butterfly behind Huang and was runner-up in the 100 Breaststroke.
