Basketball (Boys 7) vs. Twin Lakes

The West Lafayette 7th grade A team finished their regular season with a road win against the Twin Lakes A team 36-10. Seven different players scored for the Red Devils with Parker Strode leading all scorers with 10 points. Kendall Williamson and Ryne Emke followed close behind with 8 and 7 points. Again, the Red Devils out rebounded their opponent 18-10. Williamson led the rebounding effort with 5 boards with Jack Strode collecting the next most rebounds with 4. West Lafayette played stifling defense all game holding Twin Lakes to only 10 points. A good part of their defensive strategy was stealing the ball, as a team they recorded 8 steals in total. P. Strode, Jaxton Hysong and Niko Harris also each had big blocks during the game. The A team will finish their season this weekend by competing in the WCJC tournament at Tecumseh Middle School. The West Lafayette B team closed out an undefeated season with a 25–13 win over Twin Lakes, putting a fitting finish on a remarkable year. Strong team defense and balanced contributions defined the game and the season. Trip Swanson led all scorers with 9 points, adding 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Auggie Chang followed with 6 points and 3 assists, helping control the offense. Ian Gilbert contributed 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists, while David Vanderweilen and Owen Wehkamp each scored 2 points, with Wehkamp also adding a block. On the defensive end, Niko Harris chipped in a steal, Hank Andrew added 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal, and Evan Follis and Luke Dewees provided key minutes and hustle, combining for 5 rebounds. Brayson Gaeta added a basket as West Lafayette used its depth and effort to control the game. With 23 rebounds, 7 steals, and 2 blocks, West Lafayette once again showed why they finished the season undefeated, closing the year with discipline, teamwork, and relentless defense.
