West Lafayette Swimming & Diving dove back into action to start the new year on Tuesday, taking on the Seeger Patriots at Seeger’s home pool. The Red Devils won 22 of 24 events and had many strong swims across the board, including season best times, lifetime bests and athletes swimming new events for the first time this season. Final Scores: Girls: West Lafayette 124, Seeger 61 Boys: West Lafayette 127, Seeger 52 West Lafayette was led in scoring by Senior Captain Mei Kihara and freshman Maddie Klinge on the girls side, with 16 points each from two individual event wins and two relay wins, followed by freshman Jayda Huang and junior Natalie Cutell with 14 points each. The boys team was led by sophomore Eric Yu with 16 points, followed by sophomore Miles Chen and freshman Jaxon Ersland with 14 points each, as well as sophomore Thomas Glassmaker with 13 points. Four additional athletes crossed the double-digit mark in points scored including junior Mia Goodwin, sophomore Monica Chen, junior Jonathan Yang and freshman Reid Leeper.
