Junior High Cross Country Finds Early Success at Fountain Central

The girls Junior High cross country team started the season with a victory at the Fountain Central Grand Prix 3K race over the weekend. The girls team finish in 1st place of 8 teams with a score of 34 points. Aubrey Kalb and Annah Stenberg led the way coming in 1st and 2nd place respectively. Macy Forydce, Jayda Huang, Katie Antalis, Claire Kelley, and Hannah Reed rounded out the top 7 finishers for West Lafayette. Hannah Stanley scored the biggest PR of the day taking 2 minutes and 3 seconds off her previous best. Suzy Sun improved by 1 minute and 49 seconds, and Sofie Zeng improved by 1 minute and 47 seconds. Competing without two of their top runners, the boys team finished in second place out of 10 teams with a score of 56 points. Grant Johnson (5th), Lucas Boesch (7th) and Eric Yu (10th) led the way with top 10 finishes. Kevin Liu, Jinsoo Choi, Gaspar Hernandez, and Caleb Bae rounded out the varsity team. Shawn Meng and Andrii Vakuliuk showed the most improvement, taking off 2 minutes and 37 seconds and 2 minutes and 5 seconds off each of their respective times.
