West Lafayette Surges in Second Half to Defeat Klondike, 53–40 The West Lafayette 8th grade boys’ basketball team delivered an impressive second-half performance to earn a 53–40 victory over Klondike Middle School. After trailing 15–20 at halftime, the Red Devils stormed back with disciplined defense, efficient scoring, and standout teamwork. West Lafayette came out of the break energized, outscoring Klondike by 8 points in the third quarter to take control of the momentum. The run continued into the final period, where the Red Devils poured in 14 more points than their opponent, sealing a commanding win. Liam Archer led the way with a dominant all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Keegan Slifer added 12 points, while Ben Haverstick contributed 11, giving West Lafayette a balanced and effective offensive attack. With the strong second half and multiple players stepping up, West Lafayette secured a confident 53–40 victory and continues to build momentum for the rest of the season. West Lafayette 8th Grade B Team Falls Short Against Klondike The West Lafayette eighth grade B team put together a strong late push but ultimately came up just short in a 32–27 loss to Klondike last night. Klondike controlled the early tempo, holding a 12–7 lead at halftime as West Lafayette worked to find its offensive rhythm. The Red Devils saved their best play for the final period, outscoring Klondike 14–10 in the fourth quarter behind improved ball movement and defensive energy. Despite the surge, the gap proved just a bit too large to close. Trey Hammac led West Lafayette with 8 points, while Maddox Masters added 6. Tommy Cavanaugh chipped in 5 points, including the team’s lone three-pointer of the night. West Lafayette’s late rally showed promise, but Klondike’s early advantage held steady as the Red Devils fell 32–27 in a competitive matchup.
