Devils Split-the-Middle in 3-Way Season Opener vs. Raiders & Bombers

The Lady Devils Swim & Dive team opened their regular season competition schedule with a three-way meet against the Harrison Raiders and Rensselaer Bombers at Harrison High school on Thursdays. The Red Devils took second place, with 118 points behind Harrison’s 135 and ahead of Rensselaer’s 68 points scored. It was a debut night for two WL Freshmen, Jayda Huang and Maddie Klinge, who led the Red Devils in scoring, alongside Senior Captain Mei Kihara, during Thursday night’s meet. Each athlete topped the scoreboard with an individual event win and a relay win, alongside top 3 finishes across the board. West Lafayette took the top spot in 4 events, including the 200 Medley Relay (Klinge, Huang, Kihara, Estelle Seymour, JR), 200 Individual Medley (Huang), Diving (Ace Tyrrell, JR), 100 Butterfly (Kihara), and 100 Backstroke (Klinge). From start to finish, the Lady Devils had strong showings with top 3 places earned in the 200 Free (3rd: Klinge), 100 Free (2nd: Seymour), 200 Free Relay (2nd: Seymour, Kihara, Huang, Klinge), 100 Back (3rd: Mia Goodwin, JR), 100 Breast (2nd: Huang) and 400 Free Relay (2nd: Natalie Cuttell, JR; Monica Chen, SO; Goodwin, Kihara). Red Devil athletes also celebrated a slew of new season-best times, including: 50 Free: Seymour, Juanita Rodriguez-Bravo (JR), Karsynn Alexander (FR), Hazel Davis (SR), Annie Wu (FR) 100 Free: Seymour The Red Devils are back in action on the road next Tuesday, November 25 as they take on Lawrence North and Brownsburg in a double dual format at Lawrence North High School.
