Boys 7th Basketball defeats Rensselaer

The 7th grade West Lafayette A team picked up an impressive 49-14 victory over Rensselaer Tuesday night. The Red Devils took the lead early and never looked back. Kendall Williamson led all scorers with 18 points. The team played very unselfishly with multiple other players adding to the final score. The Red Devils took care of the ball all game, only committing 3 turnovers. The lone block of the game came from Brayson Gaeta. West Lafayette B team dominated from start to finish in a 57–9 win over Rensselaer. Trip Swanson led the way with 18 points, while Auggie Chang added 11 and Kohen Morlan nearly posted a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Owen Wehkamp turned in a standout all-around game with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals, and Ian Gilbert added 4 points and a team-high 8 rebounds. The Red Devils forced 13 steals and controlled the boards, turning defensive pressure into transition offense for a convincing team win. On Thursday both teams have their first road game of the season, taking on what will surely be a skilled East Tipp program.
