The 7th grade A team lost 39-29 on Thursday night to a tough and talented Tecumseh team. West Lafayette led most of the first half and found themselves down by only four at halftime. Tecumseh came out of the half on a scoring run, while holding the Red Devils scoreless in the third quarter. The Red Devils found their offensive rhythm again in the fourth quarter, scoring 15 and bringing the final score to within 10 points. Parker Strode led the West Lafayette team with 11 points with Kendall Williamson and Ryne Emke each contributing 8 points. On the defensive side Jack Strode caused some disruption to the Tecumseh offense with 6 steals. Despite the loss West Lafayette showed great improvement this game by fouling less and turning the ball over fewer times. The B team turned the night around with a hard-fought 33–29 win. It was a close battle throughout, but West Lafayette’s intense defensive pressure — forcing 20 turnovers — proved to be the difference. Offensively, the Red Devils were led by David Vanderweilen, who finished with 14 points, including two clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Kohen Morlan and Trip Swanson added 6 points each, with Morlan dominating the boards with 12 rebounds and Swanson contributing 5. Defensively, Swanson delivered a huge performance with 8 steals, while Ian Gilbert followed closely with 5 steals, and Morlan added 4. Their combined effort helped secure the momentum and close out the victory. Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday at home vs Rensselaer.
