In a field that included four of the top fourteen teams in the state, the team finished eighth of seventeen teams. The top three Red Devils all lowered their previous personal best times. Sophomore Elijah Stenberg led the way, placing 18th in 16:23. Junior Henry Balagtas also earned a medal with his 29th place finish in 16:33. Freshman Jackson Fry cut 45 seconds off of his previous best to finish in 73rd in 17:22. His performance is the 18th fastest by a freshman in program history.
Freshman Albert Rajwa was within one second of his best, finishing 87th in 17:34. Rajwa currently sits in 20th among freshman all-time. Senior Andre Hazbun (90th) rounded out scorers in a season’s best time of 17:40.
Sophomores Jacob Wright and Yian Koh finished 103rd and 124th respectively. Additionally, sophomore Charlie Haq (146th) and junior Tommy Kappock (159th) took about 30 seconds off their best times of the season to finish in 19:02 and 19:17. Senior Josh Wilcox (163rd), sophomore Will Sautter (171st), and senior Noah Hallberg (177th) also recorded their fastest times of 2020. Sautter broke 20:00 for the first time in his career, finishing in 19:48.
The team is back in action next Saturday at the New Prairie Invitational where they will race in the AAA/Gold division.
