A 19-5 deficit after one quarter was too much to overcome for the WL Boys JV basketball team on Saturday, Dec. 14. Playing in the historic gym in Indianapolis where Oscar Robertson led the Tigers to state championships in 1955 and 1956, the boys were victimized by Attucks’ full court pressure from the start.
Starting in the second quarter, they settled down and handled the press. Defensively, a switch to zone slowed down the Tigers. But the early deficit was too much to come back from.
West Side got 11 points from Jake Wright and Mo Omonode in the loss, while Divine Adeyanju scored 10 and grabbed 19 rebounds. The team’s record now stands at 3-2.
