Inspired by some 50 former players, coaches, managers and staff, the boys basketball team held off Lebanon 40-30 on David Wood Appreciation Night. The West Side community honored the popular head coach who is retiring after 27 years on the Red Devil sideline. West Lafayette raced to a 10-2 lead after one and 21-8 at halftime before the Tigers rallied to close within four at 26-22 after three. It was tied at 28 when Sam Schott scored to ignite a game-closing 12-2 run. Braeden Shrewsberry led the way with 16 points, while Divine Adeyanju had 13 points, 12 rebounds for his third double-double in as many days. The Red Devils are back in action for the final home game of the regular season Friday night against Rossville.
