West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity couldn’t keep up with Western Boone and fell 23-3 on Monday.
West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity.
Western Boone took the lead for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Briley Burns drew a walk, scoring one run, Heather Clark grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored three runs for Western Boone, Victoria Grimes singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Alayna Raby singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Western Boone scored ten runs in the third inning. Western Boone’s big inning was driven by singles by Hannah Redlin, Paige Armstrong, Burns, and Redlin and a home run by Grimes.
Clark was on the rubber for Western Boone. She went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out one and walking one.
Maddie MacDonald was in the pitcher’s circle for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity. She allowed two hits and six runs over one and one-third innings. Anna Steffey and Paige Hilleboe entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Grace Kirchner led West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Western Boone tallied 15 hits. Redlin, Molly Crawford, Grimes, Clark, Raby, and Burns each had multiple hits for Western Boone. Redlin went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Western Boone in hits.
