Game 1:
West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 20-3 loss to Kankakee Valley on Saturday. Kankakee Valley scored on a triple by Ashley Fisher and a home run by Lindsey Stokes in the first inning.

The West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Kankakee Valley, giving up 20 runs.

Kankakee Valley got things started in the first inning. Kankakee Valley scored two runs when Fisher tripled.

West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity put up three runs in the fifth inning. West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity big bats were led by Alyssa Yeoman and Emma Braun, all driving in runs in the frame.

Kankakee Valley scored 15 runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Kankakee Valley was led by Kaylee Barrett, Sarah Starr, Maddie Swart, Madey Flick, Fisher, and Barrett, all driving in runs in the inning.

Fisher was on the mound for Kankakee Valley. She allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Anna Steffey got the start for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity. She lasted two innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out three and walking one. Paige Hilleboe threw two innings in relief.

Kankakee Valley smacked three home runs on the day. Stokes went for the long ball in the first inning. Barrett had a long ball in the third and third innings.

Yeoman, Adeline Park, Kiersten Wood, and Abby Rhodes each collected one hit to lead West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity.

Kankakee Valley racked up ten hits on the day. Swart, Fisher, and Barrett each had multiple hits for Kankakee Valley. Kankakee Valley didn’t commit a single error in the field. Emma Sark had the most chances in the field with seven.

Game 2:
West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity stayed in it until the end, but North Newton pulled away late in a 10-8 victory on Saturday. The game was tied at eight with North Newton batting in the top of the seventh when Hench singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, North Newton had ten hits on the way to victory.

North Newton got things moving in the first inning. Smith drove in one when she singled.

West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity put up four runs in the fourth inning. Hannah Kidwell, Grace Kirchner, and Alyssa Yeoman each drove in runs during the inning.

Utter toed the rubber for North Newton. She lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs while striking out four.

Maddie MacDonald was on the mound for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity. She allowed six hits and six runs over four innings, striking out one. Anna Steffey threw three innings out of the bullpen.

Abby Rhodes went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity in hits.

North Newton scattered ten hits in the game. Hench, Sonatry, and Smith all collected multiple hits for North Newton. Hench led North Newton with three hits in four at bats.
