Friday’s game against Cass was a heartbreaker for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 15-7 defeat. Cass was down 7-6 in the top of the sixth inning when Abrah Humerickhouse singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity collected eight hits and Cass had 14 in the high-scoring affair.

West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. Kiersten Wood singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Cass knotted the game up at three in the top of the second inning, when an error scored one run for Cass.

West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity put up three runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity was led by Caroline Parker and Paulina Adams, who all drove in runs.

Jacey Grimm got the start for Cass. She went two innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out three and walking zero.

Anna Steffey led things off on the hill for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity. She surrendered five runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out one. Maddie MacDonald and Paige Hilleboe entered the game from the bullpen, throwing four innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Grace Kirchner and Wood all managed multiple hits for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity. Kirchner led West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity with three hits in four at bats.

Cass totaled 14 hits in the game. Brooke Nelson, Kaylin Silcox, Kadie Cornell, and Humerickhouse all had multiple hits for Cass.
