West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-1 loss to Frontier on Tuesday. Frontier took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.

The West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Frontier, giving up ten runs.

Frontier got on the board in the first inning when Paige Hilleboe threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Frontier.

Frontier scored four runs in the fifth inning. Jenna Breedlove and Taylor Runyon all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Payton Clapper led things off on the hill for Frontier. She surrendered one run on two hits over six innings, striking out three and walking zero.

Hilleboe started the game for West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity. She surrendered five runs on eight hits over two and two-thirds innings. Maddie MacDonald and Anna Steffey entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Abbey Allington, Paulina Adams, and Alyssa Yeoman each collected one hit to lead West Lafayette Red Devils Varsity.

Frontier racked up 14 hits on the day. Clapper, Runyon, Breanna Hines, Zoey Nantkes, Kc Clapper, and Breedlove all managed multiple hits for Frontier. Clapper led Frontier with three hits in four at bats. Frontier was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Shaelynn Svoboda made the most plays with five.
