Five Red Devils represented the program in the Franklin Central Distance Showcase on Friday evening. This highly competitive meet brings together most of the top distance athletes in Indiana for a mid-season showdown. Despite 15-25mph winds, all five girls recorded times at or below their previous best.

In the fast section of the mile, seniors Ellie Tate and Emma Tate placed 3rd (5:01.07) and 4th (5:01.72) respectively. Both performances put the girls under 5:00 for 1600m for the first time and place the girls 2nd and 4th in WL program history. Ellie’s and Emma’s times now sit 15th and 18th in FC Distance Showcase history.

Freshman Alli Steffey competed well in the 3rd section, finishing 9th in a time of 5:21.16 over the full mile. Alli was one of the top freshman in the meet and is continuing to have a great season.

Junior Caroline Jordan ran a disciplined race to finish 5th in the 2nd section in a time of 5:31.90. Her speed is improving steadily and she showed great toughness under less than ideal conditions.

Sophomore Haley Mansfield started the night off with a great performance in the first section. She finished 5th in a PR of 5:31.82, only 2.5 seconds off of the winner.
