Red Devils News · Track and Field State Champion Rings

Prior to tonight’s homecoming football game against Benton Central, state championship track rings will be presented.  Please plan on arriving early to help these student-athletes, coaches, and families celebrate their accomplishments. The ring presentation will begin at 7:10 PM.

The script for the ring presentation prepared by Coach Lane Custer:

We are proud to celebrate our 2018 Indiana State Track & Field Champions from the State meet held at Indiana University last June, by presenting their State Championship rings.

George Karlaftis successfully defended his Championship win from his Sophomore year at the 114th Boys State meet by throwing a School Record 60’ ½” and is being rewarded with his 2nd State Championship ring.

Also receiving a State Championship ring, in his 1st year of coaching, is West Lafayette Throws Coach, Chuk Enekwechi.  Congratulations and RDP George and Coach Enekwechi!

This year was the 44th Annual Girls State Championship, also held at Indiana University.  The West Lafayette Girls 4 X 800m Relay team won the Championship for the 4th time in history with a 3rd best effort in WL history of 9:11.21.  From left to right, the Champion Relay members are Itoro Udo-Imeh, Mary Schultz, Ellie Tate and Emma Tate.  Their efforts helped the WL Girls to finish in 6th place overall in the 2018 team standings.

Congratulations Girls!
